How to extend slow motion on sony handycam hdr-xr150?

I've been using the handycam HDR-XR150. How do you extend the slow motion time. It only records 3 seconds of slow mo. How do you make it unlimited / whenever you want to stop instead of 3 seconds auto stop? How to extend slow motion on sony handycam hdr-xr150?The reason the record time in "SmoothSlowRecord" is 3 seconds is because the video writes first to a buffer - then the buffer writes the video data to the flash memory (or hard drive or MiniDV tape, depending on the camcorder). The only way to increase that record time is to add memory to the buffer or re-write the camcorder's firmware so the video data writes directly to the storage media. Unless you know what you are doing, attempting either will likely turn the camcorder into a broken piece of electronic trash - and there are no "hacks" available.

High speed cameras cost. They are collecting a LOT of information... Photron and Vision Research (among others) make decent ones that can connect directly to your computer and will let you fill your computer's hard drive full of high-speed video. There are a few hand-held units...How to extend slow motion on sony handycam hdr-xr150?Camcorders have a 3 second slow-motion record time so they don't overheat. At normal running a camera with take 25-30 fps but in slow motion, cameras with often take 4 times this amount.

If you want to take prolonged amount of footage without purchasing an expensive slow-motion camera, editing programs such as Adobe Premiere do have some good, smooth, slow motion effects using Frame Blend.

Good luck,
