How do you do stop motion animation?

I want to have youtube vids wtih diecast nascar cars, but i don't want to use my dad's camera for all the pictures and use the whole hard drive for one vid. so i need to know how to use stop motion and how much space one 10 minute vid would take up.How do you do stop motion animation? You should check out http://www.stopmotionanimation.com

It's a message board filled with stop motion animators helping eachother out. They even have a handbook section that has basic answers and info on a variety of stop motion topics (armatures, sets, cameras, etc)

AnimateClay.com also has some good beginner tutorials:

To actually frame-grab and compile the movie, I'd suggest using Monkeyjam if you're on a PC. It's free.

AnimatorDV: Simple+ became freeware.

If you're on a Mac, you could try Framethief or FramebyFrame.

The file size of a video will be dependent not only on how long it is, but the resolution (size) and file type of the pics you use, the resolution of the video you end up exporting, and the codecs you use.

If you're video is only going to be shown on the web, then there's no need to take 10 megapixel pictures. a resolution of 640 X 480 will do for both snapping pics and the final video. When exporting your pics as a video, the program you use will usually ask you to choose a codec. Choose something like MPEG-4, which usually keeps file sizes relatively low and video quality pretty high.

Sounds kind of complicated, I know. If you need more help, just let me know.
