It is traditional to place time, the constant unit, on the x axis, for starters. If the object is moving with constant velocity, that is, no change whatsoever, the graph would be a horizontal line. If the object accelerates at a constant rate(ie- an object falling through a vacuum) the graph will have a constant slope. The slope will have units of meters/second/second, or m/s^2. This slope will be positive if the object is speeding up, or negative if the object is slowing down. The most complicated situation is an object accelerating at a varying rate. This situation can produce any number of curves, and is most easily graphed with a probe and computer.
