Should i massage the muscles before doing range of motion therapy?

I've asked physical therapists and they say that they do not massage the muscle before doing range of motion. But as a caregiver for my step dad (he's a quadriplegic) I'm supposed to listen to everything he says. I feel like I'm wasting my time massaging 15 minutes per limb. That's a total of one hour that we could be doing more exercises but he wants the massage. Thank you in advance.Should i massage the muscles before doing range of motion therapy? There is no evidence to suggest that massage with add any benefit to range of motion in this case. From a clinical stand point (ie, my opinion), it can be helpful when range of motion is limited by reflexive muscle guarding due to pain...but in the case of quadraparesis, it will not add any specific benefit to the amount of range of motion.
