What are 2 things that the motion of sunspots tell us about the sun? Please explain in detail the 2 things.
Thanxx
PS. This is for a 7th Grade HC Earth in Space ClassWhat does the motion of sunspots tell us about the sun?Sunspots are on the surface and move with the surface as the sun rotates.
1. Sunspots tell us the direction and speed of the sun's surface rotation.
Sunspots occur in 11-year cycles (though some are as little as 8 or as much as 14 years long) with an increase in sunspots at the maximum point in the cycle.
2. Sunspot numbers tell us where the sun is in its sunspot cycle, and if it is increasing toward the maximum or decreasing toward the minimum.
I guess its too much to ask kids these days to actually read their textbooks.
