I have seen a few motion activated or battery operated toys I can leave out for my cats while I'm at work, but I don't know what's the BEST one. I don't thin I want something with strings or feathers, cause our little one will eat that stuff! I've already searched on the web, but I'd like to know which one YOU think is the best, that you have actually used.Best motion activated or battery operated toy for cats home alone? My cat used to LOVE the thing that hangs from the doorway. It's not battery operated but the air circulation is enough to blow it around and get their attention. The one we got is a mouse or something. The string is elastic and adjustable. so when she pulls the mouse it just keeps swinging around.
If that doesnt sound good. See if there is something with lasers. most cats love them. mine will play every now and then with them but isn't crazy about them.
AWESOME suggestion on the Roomba. I bet that is a funny sight. lolBest motion activated or battery operated toy for cats home alone?
Try those mice that run around on wheels that you can buy wal-mart. They are very entertaining for a cat, but the battery will probably run out while your at work.Best motion activated or battery operated toy for cats home alone?A cat tree by a window or a window perch and a bird feeder outside the window.
But I wouldn't be too concerned about your cats not having things to play with while you're at work. I work from home and even though I'm here most of the time all the cats do is SLEEP! :) They're quite happy to lounge the day away while I work and then we have plenty of playtime at night. Get them lure toys like Da Bird, The Cat Catcher that you can wave and they can chase.Best motion activated or battery operated toy for cats home alone?
A Roomba (or similar) floor cleaner. Cleans up the cat hairs and cat mess off the floors and amuses the cats at the same time. Mine just love it when I pull mine out. They chase, paw, hiss, jump, leap, and sometimes ride. I sometimes put a wiggly thing on the top for extra added amusement.
Not sure who likes it more, or who is more amused -- the cats, or me watching the cats and their antics. I will often just set it going when I am going to be gone from the house for a long time.
Did I mention my cats sleep well at night after a day of Roomba-ing?Best motion activated or battery operated toy for cats home alone?I've never tried battery operated toys, but there are some things I'd consider before purchasing one.
Make sure that the toy isn't too heavy, so he can throw it around.
Make sure there isn't too much hard plastic or any metal that would be uncomfortable or harm his teeth.
Make sure it is reasonably quiet, or it may just freak him out. Some bird noises (or similar) would probably be okay, but any loud buzzing from a motor may not.Best motion activated or battery operated toy for cats home alone?
One year, my mom got a sharper image "automatic cat exerciser" for my cats, and surprisingly, they actually liked it. It twirls a mouse on a stick around, and also can be driven around with a remote control, but it freaks my cats out when you drive it (it's too noisy) so we'd just let it sit still on the floor.
I don't know if I'd leave it going all day while you were gone, though... that would use up batteries fast. Unfortunately, I believe sharper image went out of business. You might be able to find one on ebay or something, though, it looked like a cat with a plastic wand coming out of its head with a fluffy ball on the end. It's half light blue and half lime green.
Your cats should be fine without anything automatic, though. Leave some cat toys out and they'll entertain themselves.
