I bought a Cooper Lighting motion sensitive flood light, but it is complete garbage. It goes off for no reason no matter how much you adjust the sensitivity.
I'm looking for a motion flood light with few false positives. If nocturnal animals set the light off, that's OK. But it shouldn't go off because bugs fly by the sensor. It also has to be able to be eave mounted. Can anyone recommend a good motion flood light?HERE'S THE ANSWER:
The problem is not with the light it is with the sensor... and likely with the way you have the sensor installed more so than the sensor itself. (sorry) If the lamp lights then it is doing what it is supposed to do so why buy a whole new light. Let's just fix the one you have... even if it DOES need a new sensor.
First, turn the lamp off. Just leave it off. Set all the settings to the lowest possible sensitivity. and aim the sensor so that it is aimed away from all sources of stimulation and ALL REFLECTIVE SURFACES. These can include car bodies, wind screens, driveway reflectors, mirrors (of course) and your neighbors windows. Cover the sensor with a paper bag or duct tape . Now check your instructions because some sensors have an emergency over ride... when you snap the switch on the light comes on, even if there is no one there, and then shuts off after a few minutes. If you have that feature, snap it on and wait till it shuts off, then cover it up. WAIT 24 HOURS. At night go out and remove the cover from the sensor. It will probably come on just from you touching it. Then it will shut off. What you are doing is allowing the sensor to zero itself... to find it's happy place so to speak. It needs to have zero stimulation for a few minutes to get settled. Now if it comes on again with no reason it may be that the mount is shaking or vibrating. Remember that motion is RELATIVE to the sensor... if the sensor moves it see the whole world as moving. If all else fails, you can buy JUST the sensor module for a few dollars. They all work the same way. Let me know how you make out!Can anyone recommend a good motion flood light?yeah it'll lite up after ya motion it and flood too afterwards ha''Can anyone recommend a good motion flood light?I have installed a good many of these lights in the UK and have never had a problem although they have all been different makes.

Have you tried Access Lighting? If it does not have to be a flood light I know Lamps Plus has a lot of motion sensor lights that mount. Check out your local hardware store see if they have any suggestions. I put a link below for the access lighting brand one I found.
