Is the initial velocity in projectile motion always zero?

Is the initial velocity in projectile motion (whether it's the vertical or horizontal component) always considered zero- ie, when the object is at rest, before it has been launched? Or is whatever the speed is as soon as the object is moving- ie, 25m/s or something of the sort?Is the initial velocity in projectile motion always zero? It's the speed at which it is launched, and when it begins moving under the influence of gravity.

So, not zero.
