What would be the reason that someone would file a leave of absence motion with court?

I have a court date Feb 13th with my ex to decide custody and money matters. We came to an agreement, he was supposed to have his attorney get the papers ready and then today I see he has filed a motion for leave of absence. What does this mean? What would be the reason that someone would file a leave of absence motion with court?sounds like a delay tactic to me.

But the other gentleman is correct. He won't have to appear and his attorney can speak on his behalf. What would be the reason that someone would file a leave of absence motion with court? He wont be thereWhat would be the reason that someone would file a leave of absence motion with court?he will be absent..which means he wount be there..
